Há = ago
To say ago, put há before the time:
- Eu cheguei há dois anos.
- Ela começou no trabalho há três meses.
- Conheci o Pedro há muito tempo.
In speech, Brazilians also use faz: Faz dois anos que eu cheguei.
Asking when
- Quando você chegou?
- Cheguei semana passada.
- Quando foi isso?
Pay attention! Há, with an h, is for the past: há dois dias. For the future, say daqui a dois dias.
